Post-Doc Researcher
Tim is a postdoctoral researcher working on using computational methods to investigate effort-based decision-making and its underlying neuromodulatory systems. His main research interests include computational modelling, decision-making, motivation, and machine learning. Tim wrote his PhD thesis at the Università Campus Bio-Medico in Rome in the computational and translational neuroscience lab (CTN-lab), where he investigated the use of Meta-Reinforcement Learning to develop and verify a computational phenotyping procedure based on behaviour during an effort-based decision-making paradigm, aiming to move towards precision medicine in Major Depressive Disorder. Previously, he completed a Master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at Radboud University. During his master's thesis internship, he investigated the effects of stress on effort-based decision-making under the supervision of Dr. Eliana Vassena. Tim also holds two bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Biomedical Sciences from Radboud University.
